What about health insurance?
Sara is considered an “out-of-network” provider by many insurance companies. Depending on your plan coverage, you may be eligible for partial-reimbursement for mental health services provided by an “out-of-network” provider. Upon request, Sara will provide a detailed statement reflecting the amount you have paid for each counseling session; you may use that statement to submit your own claim to your insurance company.

If you will be seeking reimbursement through your health insurance plan, please be sure to contact the insurance company prior to your first appointment, so that you understand your out-of-network benefits, as well as requirements for reimbursement.

After verifying that your plan covers mental health counseling, you may want to ask:
-> Does your plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?
-> Is a referral from your Primary Care Provider (PCP) — or pre-approval from the plan administrators — needed before you begin treatment?
-> How much will your health insurance company reimburse per session for mental health services provided by an out-of-network provider?
-> Is there a limit to how much the plan will reimburse overall (total dollar amount, or for a certain # of sessions)?
-> Does your plan require you to meet an annual deductible before you are eligible for reimbursement?
-> How does a member file a claim for reimbursement of out-of-network services?
-> Approximately how long does it take for a claim to be processed, and for reimbursement to be made?
-> Is there a specific list of diagnoses for which services are covered?

There may be other considerations as well, depending on your situation.

Cancellation Policy — If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. When you schedule an appointment, I reserve that date and time for you; last minute cancellations prevent me from offering the appointment time to another person. A full session fee will be charged for missed appointments or cancellations with less than a 24-hour notice.
